Facilities and Equipment available at the NCSR:

  • The NCSR is well equipped with advanced facilities and instrumentation to support a cutting edge, multidisciplinary sensor research programme.
  • The equipment and facilities of the associated Schools (Biotechnology, Chemistry and Physics) also contribute to the research programmes.
  • Subject to availability, these laboratories strive to make specialised research equipment or facilities available to external researchers, commercial partners and other customers.

Project laboratories are defined by function rather than by scientific discipline. The aggregation of research activities in a common location catalyses interdisciplinary research and leads to enhanced cohesion.

Specialist facilities including microfabrication facilities, constant temperature rooms, biohazard containment units and laser laboratories are all housed with a single building leading to more efficient exchange of ideas and use of research resources.
